Marriage for foreigners in Tbilisi

Hi,

- My girlfriend and myself intend to meet and get married in Tblisi this fall. We both are non-georgians. Is there anyone who knows/is willing to clarify for us how we can do that? I 've heard that marriage there is an easy process that can be done at the so-called Service Hall? of Tblisi

- My second enquiry is about safety there: Is it a safe and a nice city?

Would appreciate a reply very much!

Regards

Hello :) First of all it's so nice of you to decide to get married in Gergia :)

Second of all, Tbilisi and any of the other cities are completely safe.

There is a small and beautiful city of Sighnaghi, which is called city of love :) You know why? coz there is 24 hour 7 days a week service of marriage . Many locals and foreigners are getting married there :) So you are welcome! :)

best regards, Irene

Hi Tareq,

I'd like add my congratulations, too :)

Irene has given terrific details above, and I would agree that small scenic well-kept Signaghi might be a nicer place than Tbilisi as a wedding scene.

But both (and the country in general) are very safe. Enjoy!

You will need tha ID, Passport. And os course if you are not under aged. In this case you will need a permission from the parents. And i think you will need a " best friends" as a witnesses ... but i'm not sure about that... so... If you need witnesses we could find some nice people for you :))

Hello again! I called them and asked, they told me: if any of them are devorced before, they will need that document too. And also there is a fee of 60 GEL, it's around 35-40 $ and that's it :)

Dear Irene!

Good day and wish that all is fine with You

Up till now we did not have the chance to proceed with our marriage plans in Georgia

I am thinking of taking Your suggestion about Sighnaghi. My question now is:

Do they have the same rules as of Tbilisi?

It might be that we will be in Georgia around 25th of januari 2014 and then we can go along with the process

I will very much appreciate Your reply!

Have a nice day!

Tareq
