New Years Eve

Hi all,

My husband and I will be staying at Breakas for 4 nights including New Years Eve. Is there any really special must do's for NYE in Port Vila or would we have just as good a time staying at the resort ?

We are not drinkers and are not into the pub scene but would enjoy a cultural show of some kind, tribal dancing and fireworks etc. NYE is also our anniversary, so we would like to do something special.

Any suggestions welcome.

We had NYE at Irririki resort a couple of years ago. The fireworks over the bay were great, and the entertainment was a lot of fun. It was probably one of the best NYE nights we have ever had.

I'd be asking George at Breakas what he has got planned. I'd suspect it would be a good night out.

Just keep in mind that RSA - Responsible Service of Alcohol - doesn't seem to exist, nor do Occupational Safety standards. You can get up close and personal with some very big fireworks.

Erakor is a great spot for New Years. You can look back towards town and see the fireworks from Le Lagon and Breakas as well as Erakors own show. Its not far from Breakas either so you could check out what they have planned for the night. They will advertise it in a poster at their wharf.

There are lots of cultural dance shows at night at the main resorts, usually as part of their Melanesian Feast nights. Try to see Vanua Fire if you get a chance! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKlmLUuHie0

Thanks Tom..........we have already booked into the Breakas NYE party but would love to be able to see a fire dance. Unfortunately it looks as though The Beach Bar normally has a show on a Friday night. We leave on Friday morning. Do you know if they might be putting on any extra shows mid week, apart from NYE ?
