Thanks for the help and I hope to have a nice visit for my first time.

Hi, a good exchange money is located in Av 15 Calle 125 (corner) ask for Mr Magoo Exchange money is safe and cheap. For plans go to Salt Cathedral in zipaquira, you may go in Car, Bus or Train. In Bogota go to Monserrate hill, visit http://www.bogotaturismo.gov.co/

Hello!

I spent in total 4 month in Bogotá last year and it was a fantastic city. If you take care and don't do any stupid things like showing your big camera or having a yellow cab Bogotá is pretty safe.

As a tourist I should recommend you to go to Parque 93 (this is a district)or to the district called 82nd. Those district are from a colombian point of view very expensive and fancy.

Here you can find some fancy restaurants and trendy night clubs. I would recommend the place El Sitio in Parque 93 and a mexican restaurant called Salto del Angel in the same district.

And I strongly recommend the restaurant Andres Carne de Res which located in Chia, a small village about one hour outside Bogotá. This is aboslutely the best restaurant I ever been to. It's more than a restaurant, it's an experience!

There's also a lot of Salsa clubs but I don't know any names or locations but I think your friend can help you.

I hope those advise will help you and have a very nice trip to Bogotá!

Hello to all and Thanks for the information....

I still would like to get further clarification about what you mean when you say the big "Yellow cab".All I can assume is that is a flag for the people that are out to do harm you that you are a tourist...

Anyway I will definetly like to visit the Parque 93 and Monserat,etc...

The main reason this trip started is that im planning to meet a beautiful colombian girl...I love colombian women at least they sound they are great women...I dont mean to offend any one so please forgive me if I do.So any advice in this regards, please let me know...

Still if anybody has any other details of the current situation down there,Do's and Dont's certainly welcome as well...

Thanks for all your help and I hope to have a fun time

Sincerely

LFlorez

HI there!

Your plans for bogota sound good. And knowing bogota is fairly safe, u should also know that as any big city there are some places you should avoid. Thats why I like to play it safe and whenever I go to Bogota I take guided tours. So far the company I have liked best is destinobogota, you can find info on all their services at www.destinobogota.com

Hope u like the website and enjoy your stay en bogota!

With yellow cab I mean a taxi catch out at the street. You should always call for a cab, the people in the phone should give you the name of the driver and the number of the car. I lived at Four Points Sheraton which had it's own white cabs.

And og courde, you should always be in the safe areas as I mentioned above.

Hi,

I enjoyed Cartagena and Bogota. But also interesting and surprising was Medellin. There are many things to do, but 1 or 2 days can give you the flavor of town. This web address was helpful, also includes information for the country in general. http://wikitravel.org/en/Medellin

If you want to exchange money, go to area where Unicentro mall is located (calle 127 carrera 15, this is north of the city). There is a shopping area diagonal to Unicentro mall (calle 125 or 126, don't remember) where you can find a lot of places to trade money with. Usually what I do is go to ask to every single one and find the best rate. The rate is better if you get small bills.

Have fun!!! Bogota is very nice.
