Tim:

If you will be using the car in in Punta del este , hiring one in Montevideo is a good choice, the road is OK and safe. I suggest you keep the cafor Punta as there are many nice beaches to visit.

Its a short trip almost 2 hurs.

The bus or Taxi are OK too.

Tim, with only cross the street in the Carrasco Airport (Montevideo) you can take the bus to Punta del Este (Terminal

Bus), the ticket price is more or less u$s 5.- for person.

In two hours you arrive to Punta....and very cheap !!

If you prefer rent a car, in the Airport you have many Rent a car shops. The route to Punta is perfect !

If you like take a taxi, the price is u$s 130.-more or less.

Only one more think....in you decide take the bus you must read

in the front of the bus DIRECTO , because this bus don´t stop

in Piriapolis, go directly to Punta.

Kingalbert:

You seem to know very well La Barra , Punta , belive your contribution is very good to the forum that has JUST starting to roll ( The Uruguay forum)

...can´t understand really WHY no Uruguayan posts here more frequently.

Yes they are laid back ..

Regarding your help I wouldn´t just PUSH so much La Barra / La Bluette .. :)

There are other great spots too, don´t you agree ?

( I am not refering to La Pedrera or Jose Ignacio)

Thanks for the advice on the bus from Montevideo to Punta. I am arranging to meet friends who are flying into Punta, but does anyone know where exactly it stops so I can arrange to meet my friends?
