Day Trips from Damascus

I am visiting Damascus for 4/5 days, want to spend 2 in the city and am thinking about Maalula for a 1 day trip.

Would this be sensible?

Also where should I go for the other day?

Is it easy to arrange day trips from damascus? and what is appoximate cost?

You can do Bosra, south Damascus.

Mar Mousa also can be done along with Ma'aloula tours.

Costs depend on what sort of transport services you would have. Public or private. Public buses are very cheap and available 24/7 all thae day.

Really Maaloula doesnt need a whole day as its not far from Damascus and can be seen in half a day.

You could combine Maaloula with Saidnaya or Deir Mar Mousa as amagribi suggested, which is quite amazing on the top of a high mountain.

Be prepared for the climb up though!

Other most popular places are Bosra, and the Krak de Chavelier which is near to Homs, but can be visited on a day trip.

Maaloula and Sednaya is a half day trip from Damascus. If you combine Der Mar Mousa that makes it a full day

Bosra alone can be done in half a day.For a fullday tour down south you can do Izra along with Bosra and may be Kanawat and Shahba. You go one way and return to Damascus the other .

The above trips/time can only be done by car/driver.

to go on buses and minibuses double the time.

A late modern car/ experienced driver expect to pay sp 6000-7000 low season/high season.Usually hotels where you stay can provide this service and often you have other guests to join the tour and split costs
