hoorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrray

I know few people will be going to Petra that date.

Thanks cleopetra for the good news.

I gues this only applies to sites controlled by the ministery of Tourism and not private ones like Amman Beach or Hammat Maan?

Cheers to All

Indeed great news ! I was just reading about it on the Visit Jordan Facebook page, unfortunately the rest of the article is in Arabic so no point copying it here. I wonder what will happen with people who want to buy a 2-day ticket on the 28th ...

Wow what a revelation/misunderstanding we have.

We have been led to believe that it is free for all visitors.

that is shame.

thanks cleopatra for clarifying the situation.

I just called with a very nice lady from the Jordan Tourism Board and indeed Petra is NOT included because it's part of the Regional Authorities here and isn't under the management of the Ministry of Tourism ... strange but true apparently.

I went last Friday and yes it was not free for me. I was okay to pay since I planned this trip even before I heard about the free entrance fee. But I know a lot of backpackers nearby who made significant changes in their travel plans just to take advantage of this. What a bummer this must have been for them. Apparently there was a mistake in an news article re this issue.

In any case, I do think 50 JD is a lot. Petra is amazing, but still, 50 JD??
