That may well be, Rick, and if it were true, I would wear that identity proudly. But it seems so much more likely on my mother's side, whose closest friends at several key stages in her life were Jewish, who fell away from the organized church because she could never forgive its complacency (or complicity) in the Sho'ah, and who raised me with such a strong respect and affection for Jews and Judaism. My father was about as goyish as they come. :-)
But who knows? Given the narrow-mindness that ran amok among earlier generations in my father's family, that would be some rich irony.
