Visit Israel (TA) with kids

What are the things you particularly recommend if you visit with a 3 years old ? And what hotel would you pick in Tel Aviv (for now during Pessah). Thanks.

During Pessah are many activities for kids. The question is if your kid understands Hebrew or you. Also will have a car or you will use public transport. First day and last day of Pessah are oficial hloidays and as such have no busses as public transport, only Sherut and taxis. These give only a limitted service.

Where to visit? The Ganei Jeshua (the park along the Yarkov river). There are boats and "activities centers" for young kids where they can draw etc... also several places with swings and other toys.

The children Museum in Holon.

The port where he/she can run and play, and you can sit and have a coffee or something.

A boat ride along the Tel Aviv coast starting at the Old Jaffa port.

Tel Aviv museum also has activities for kids, and the Ariela library but 3 years look a bit too young for that.

There are, and during Pessah will be many more activities, but at least some knowledge of Hebrew will be nessacery.

Near Tel Aviv is a monkeys park, for that you need a car.

Ramat Gan (practically a part of Tel Aviv) has a "safari" - a zoo and a park. In part of the park, that is closed for people on foot, only in cars, live lions and other animals. These animals are free and people go by car. There are cars that belong to the zoo and take people, or you go by your own car.

And you can also go to a movie - most kids' movies are offered also in the original English version.

Well, no reason to be daunted. The Safari is fine, and at Hayarkon park you can rent equipment. And you have a Luna park nearby. And the beach is always a great attraction for kids. Don't miss Diada, a great restaurant for small children and their parents. Your hotel will probably have children's activities over Passover with an English speaker minder. Also remember to have a look at the jerusalem post or the English haaretz supplement for that week - there are always story hours and other activities.

What would be your budget for the hotel?

During Passover prices skyrocket, but if you manage to get something in a hotel near the sea, like the Dan Panorama, or the Crowne Plaza, do book there. The Crowne and the Dan have kids' activities centers. You can also consider an apartment but if you keep passover it might be a bit of a hassle and usually apartment hotels are not big at concierge services. People recommend the Lusky suites.

Diada restaurant was a lovely idea, but did not work out. The restaurant closed several months ago. The Diada center is working with acticities for kids. Tel Aviv has a great guide called The City Mouse www.mouse.co.il with a kids' dept. I did not find an English version of this guide. Did anybody?
