Israel is not a cheap country. Staying in three star hotels, restaurants and renting a car, expect to spend US$120 to US$180 per day. (This is based on some statistics I found)

Any alternatives or the best options to stay when travelling with family to Israel for about 10 days?

How much would your suggested option cost?

There are plenty of good hostels like Abraham hostel Jerusalem and the Israeli youth hostels @ http://www.iyha.org.il/eng/ (price for 2 adults B&B is about $80 per night depending on the season)

How many people are in your family and when do you plan on coming. Lodging prices are per person and the age of that person is relevant. A car needs to be large enough for your family which determines the price. You could stay in a flat for less money but will need to purchase and prepare your own food, which is less expensive than eating out but not so convenient.

Just to make sure - you need to apply for a tourism visa in the Israeli consulate in India before you make the trip. There are 2: At Mumbai and New Delhi.

Could you also let me know what is the attire followed by girls in Israel.

What is the modern attire and what was the attire in olden days for unmarried girls?

Which kind of clothing would best depict the Israeli culture if I were to record a song in Hebrew. Kindly let me know for girls and boys.

Since your dates are not fixed, you should bear in mind that certain times of year are more expensive than others. September this year is full of Jewish holidays and is peak time, although I assume you are not thinking of September, which is fast approaching.

The next peak season is end of December/beginning of January. Christmas and New Year are not holidays in Israel, but because they are for so much of the world that is when many people have time off work and are able to travel. Prices are high and accommodation is hard to find.

Then the Jewish holiday of Passover, which in 2014 is April 14-21, is a bad time to visit for a lot of reasons. Not only will prices go through the roof, the country will be jam packed with tourists and Israelis, many of whom get the entire week off work and like to travel around their own country. In addition, many places will be closed, and what with one thing and another it is a bad time to visit Israel, especially for a first-timer.

I hope this helps in narrowing down when you want to come.

In Israel anything goes. The country is a melting pot for people from around the world who have come from different countries and cultures. You will find those wearing shorts and a tee-shirt, long trousers/skirts and button shirts, black trousers/white shirts/black jackets/black hats. Long skirts with stockings, high collared shirts and hats in some sectors. If you visit minorities you will see their traditional dress which can be long robes including head covering, special headdress for men and women depending on the minority.

However, if you are looking for the average Israeli in the summer you will find shorts/tee shirts for boys (men may even wear such to work), short/long skirts or short/long trousers for women with tee shirts or tank tops, even in places of business. Most people wear sandels in the summer.

Hope this helps.
