Fly with El Al or not?

Hi there,

Thanks to all your suggestions and opinions on my previous post, I made it to Haifa safely and now settled down. In month of December I plan to fly to Mumbai, India to visit my parents. There is a direct El Al flight to Mumbai from TLV. After reading all the reviews, I am thinking should I fly El Al or not? But the catch is that, its a 8hr direct flight and thus saves lot of my time. What you recommend and what are your reviews of TLV-BOM flight? Your opinion on this may just help me decide.

So my question would be why wouldn't you fly El Al? Direct flight, secure, reliable, decent airline......

I agree. I would go with the direct flight. El Al is a fine airline.

My compny has offices in India and fly employees every week. There is a big price difference thus most of the time the flights are with Turkish airlines.

Personally, I feel time is worth money. Unless the cost of the direct flight is impossible for you, I would definitely fly El Al. Between the time saved and the security they offer, IMO it is a no brainer. (besides, at this moment I would not want to hang out waiting for a connection in Turkey!)

The only advantages EL AL have are security and a few exclusively direct routes.

Otherwise it's an expensive and mediocre airline. IMO.

I would definately fly El Al for the convenience and shorter flight. However if money is the issue Royal Jordanian generally has the lowest fare for this route starting in Tel Aviv.

I flew with El Al six times during 2012 and I must disagree with the previous post. They have great service, good food, average plane interiors and excellent security. Don't see a reason why not to fly with them.

10. Re: Fly with El Al or not?

Because of either direct flights or convenient departure times I was tempted to fly EL AL twice in the last 16 months. Never again.

By the way, EL AL ranks 4.4 out of 10 - http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/el_al.htm

And objectively classified a 3-Star Airline "... signifies a "satisfactory" standard of core Product across most travel categories - but reflects poor or less consistent standards of Staff Service and/or Product quality in selected Onboard or Airport features.

This Rating is assessed by Skytrax after detailed Product and Service standards analysis for each featured airline, and is NOT connected to customer ratings or reviews across Forum pages on this site."
