Hello,

In December I am traveling to Israel. I was wondering in anyone knows what are the best fares out of Europe to Tel Aviv. Is dramatically cheaper to book a flight departing say FRA than LHR or CDG? Do any European cities have daily flights to Tel Aviv that are really cheap?

Right now I have a $750 round trip ticket from SFO to LHR on Virgin Atlantic. Booking a flight from LHR - TLV looks pretty spendy....

Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Thompson (thompson.co.uk) will just have started flying to Tel Aviv - try them. Try also israir.co.il or arkia.o.il

I think you will do much better in December flying directly from the U.S. to Israel (some with a stop in Europe) than buying 2 seperate tickets. Usually the rates in December (not during X-Mas and New Year) tend to be very reasonable.

have had very good luck using European based carriers that serve the States and Israel (Iberia, Alitalia and Turkish Airlines have been used).

Much cheaper booking a multi-leg through them than 2 separate trips. Try searching individual airline sites this way, plus you're allowed a free layover for several days in their European hub if you want to explore that city .

Hey all!

Thanks for your advice! Multi Segment flights are looking a bit cheaper than booking separate fights!

So far the best I've found is SFO -> TLV, DXB ->LHR (gonna be in Dubai for Christmas with my brother and London for new years!), LHR-> SFO - $1450 through BA.

Do ticket prices generally get cheaper closer to departure, or should I just go ahead and book this flight?

I am not a great expert on flight prices, but it's high season and multiple destination with a reputable company - it's sounds good to me and I would book it.
