One day southern Turkey

We're visiting Aleppo Syria for 4 days. We would like to take a one day trip to southern parts of Turkey. We're considering Gaziantep, being the main city there.

Is Gaziantep the best to visit? What are the highlights? Can anyone recommend a good guide from there to accompany us or meet us there? What is the best boutique hotel (old house converted)?

Appreciate any information.

Hello there,

One day trip to the area is not enough because it is so rich with a lot of things to see and to do, Gaziantep, Urfa, Hatay etc if you want o make the most of it in 1 day then get an OFICIAL guide.

Good Luck and nice Holiday

fHi Hamor: Gazientep is a good place to vist although a lot of people don't go there. When I was there in 2005 there were no foreigners in evidence. The mosaics are fabulous and they say that the baklava are the best in Turkey. Indeed all the food there was very good. Look up some info about Gaziantep at Allaboutturkey.com and you can get a sense of what it's like. You can also look up Gaziantep in the forum search box and see what forumites who have visited have to say. Happy Travel, LemonLady
