Coastal destination 3 nights in March (in other words, now!)

We've spent a few nights in Istanbul and a few in Cappadocia - looking for something different to finish off our trip. Would love to know of a nice relaxing coastal location - not too frigid, perhaps some water sport (kayaking) and/or trekking available. Ideally not too far from an airport.

Thanks for any advice!

Hello İntotrash,

İ think your best bet at the moment is Antalya. The weather is long time not settled, it can be still very windy and more rain coming. Antalya temperatures are surely a bit higher normally, but having just checked the forecast from Fethiye and Antalya it looks pretty much the same. Though less wind for Antalya. You could go kayaking in Kekova, only İ am not sure if they operate already. You can stay in Kaleici, the old town which is really lovely and you can walk down to the harbor to enjoy the sun. Or locate yourself near Lara beach, lots of hotels with still good deals this time of year.

Hope this helps, good luck!

If you are looking for a small resort you could look at Cirali as a quiet alternative....stunning beach, lush forests..an idyllic, concrete-free paradise, and sparkling clear seas. The Cirali Beach is also a rare opportunity to visit one of the Med’s few remaining nesting sites for loggerhead turtles.

great for trekking and hiking at this time of the year..as for march / april no boat trips will be available and there is a possibility of sea kayaking but I really think it is too early in the season..

Cirali is the eastern end of the famous Lycian Way. Lycian Way is one of the best long distance trekking routes in the World. 500 kilometer route starts from Fethiye, ends at Antalya. The popular trekking routes passing through Cirali are Cirali – Ulupinar – Chimaera (Yanartaş), Cirali – Maden Koyu – Phaselis – Tekirova, Cirali – Olympos – Musa Dağı – Adrasan, Cirali – Beycik – Tahtalı Dağı. Most of the routes are marked with red and white signs.

Cirali is located about 1 hours drive southwest from Antalya ( 1.5 hrs from the Antalya airport ) and is alos the home of the anceint ruins of Olympos and the flames of the Chimeara ( yanartaş )
