Change over season

We are due to fly out to Thudufushi on 1st May, does anyone have an idea of when the changeover season usually starts. I have found some reviews that says its April and some say end of Many? Thanks

It varies....could be in (later) April or anytime in May really. But who knows each year...

on or around end of april/ beginning of May. Thats the reason mostly the rates have a dramatic decrease on or around 1st May - 5 May.

2011 was mid May, think 2012 roughly the same, maybe a few days earlier but 2013 was much earlier, it was turning when we left on 23/24th April and think the poor weather came in just a few days later?

I think it's hard to predict on both ends of the seasons.

When we went in late November 2013 we were told by the island dive school the wind direction had actually changed to the 'dry season' and then changed back to the opposite direction during our stay. We were also told transition months can make very high water clarity because the wind is not pushing hard in either direction.

Not sure how much truth is in that but hey...

We travel the same day to Kandolhu... But hey - we can only get SO wet once we're in the water (under or on it!), hopefully it won't spoil diving... All our books would be read under cover rain or shine and spa treatments might be lovely to the sound of rain/thunder :) it'll still be warm, we'll be away from all the hustle, bustle and general stresses of our day to day's so either way we really don't mind :)

Well said and really looking forward to it, hopefully we might get the chance to pop over to Athuruga for a snorkel trip to see what their house reef is like. Hopefully we can do Athuruga the following year, fingers crossed.
