Biyadhoo...... What about you?...

Lets see if this thread lasts more than an hour

It would seem there are 4 types of Biyadhoo customer;

1. Those who have been, love it and go back or would go back and recommend it

2. Those who have been and most definately wont go back, and dont recommend it.

3. Those who havent been but are attracted by the cheap price, the good reef and arent put off by the negatives and might book up (or have booked).

4. Those who have read the reviews and would not give it a cat in hells chance

I am currently category 3, what about everyone else?

Not quite sure of the purpose of this thread but I'll play along:

I've been several times and loved every one. Not sure I would go back, all things being equal, as I think that if it is running at 100% occupancy, the infrastructure creaks a bit.

I recommend the island for anyone on a limited budget who wants good food, laid back atmosphere and good snorkelling and who isn't likely to be put off by the state of the rooms.

3 for me.

I paid £799 for 1 week AI. You're in the Maldives, not the Canaries ... no complaints from me.

If you want luxury, then pay the price, else stop moaning!!!

We loved it for offering a beautiful Maldivian island where we could afford to take all seven of us including sons, partner, grand kids, and where we all had two fantastic holidays. I lked the fairly small size, the single bar, the good food and apart fron Thudufushi's and the At Ex's, the best AI cocktails. We loved the small beach on the east side with calm water for the children to play in, and the proximity of the reef which made it so easy to escort them to it. The staff were brilliant with the kids, and the rest of the family were quite OK in their rooms as the alternative for most of them would have been Canvas Holidays in Brittany.

Nevertheless, I would not recommend it for a romantic honeymoon and I would not necessarily choose it just for MrF and me, mainly because we do like to ring the changes on resorts. We are trying Reethi this August, because one son and partner are off to Brazil in stead, so we will only (only?!) have five to pay for.

Count us a category 1

Category 2 - Although that's not to say we hated it - we didn't - we just thought it was only 'okayish - sort of'. Definitely wouldn't return though.

I certainly wouldn't recommend it to somebody on here seeking advice though, it's too much of a marmite island and if I'd encouraged somebody to fork out to go there I'd feel very guilty.

category 1, good and valid thread, gets regulars to qualify their choices and as such must surely be an asset to anyone trawling this forum for help.

Why should it be zaped??

Sorry to admit, I'm in category 4. Maybe if it had been my first visit to the Maldives I might be in one of the other categories. But we went to a really nice island first time round so I wouldn't consider Biyadhoo. For the price I'd rather have a bit of luxury elsewhere in the world.
