Mui ne is a lot smaller than nha trang, it's spread out so less restaurants bars etc but great with a laid back vibe, nha trang is a city with a lot more happening and a bigger tourist area, why not split your time in both, that's what most people will do, also have a look at hoi an it has a good beach as well and is quieter than the two above but has a great town in hoi an.

Mui Ne has no beach, just wind and flying people...

Nha Trang has a beach, but you need to cross a freeway...

Hi, all depend of you, what you want!!! If you like kite, surf or windsurf of course u have to go to muine, if you want relax on the beach and u like snorkeling or diving u have to go to Nha Trang. For party both are good. Mui ne is smaller but very good people.

Enjoy your time in Vietnam!!!!

Maurizio04, it is not a freeway, it is a road. As you very well know. It is being crossed by thousands of people every day. I know you're the destination expert for HCMC, but you know Nha Trang well.

Dear all,

We have been to Muine long ago and we are now looking for another beach destination reachable from HCM city, for mid-february. Coming from a highly polluted city, we are looking for clean beaches, clean air, clean food and clean water. Unfortunately it seems that phu Quoc is already full... Thanks for your advice!!!

These 2 places are very differnt. There are more Touristy type things in Nha Trang as it is a very large destination. There are no beachfront Hotels with the exception of a 5 star Resort, whereas in Mui Ne 80% of the resorts are actual beachfront, and many of them run by families. Costwise Mui Ne has advantages but the big one is that it is on the toe of a desert and therefore has the best rainfall record along the coast.

There is some erosion of the beach which comes and goes but only affects those resorts that are built right to the water.

In short if you want to rave then Nha Trang, if you just want to laze about then its Mui Ne.

A small point Mui Ne is falsely marketed as the resort town wheras the real resort area is Ham Tien, Mui Ne being a fishing village further

along the coast.

Thanks for all your tips.

Hoi an was mentioned also as an alternative to nha trang and mui ne. What does hoi an offer that nha trang or mui doesn't ?

What is the best way to travel between hoi an, nah trang and mui ne? We were thinking hiring a driver?

How long will it take between each place?

All your help is much appreciated

Thanks

Hi

Ive been to Mui ne,Nha trang and Hoi An and although i loved all 3 id say if you are limited on time then to drop mui ne .

It is still a very nice town but Nha trang is extremlly versatile so weather you want to chill on the beach, explore the city by motorbike or visit vin pearl theres plently to keep you busy whereas Mui ne is more of a place to just relax but is also very russian dominanated.

If you were wanting to do all three places it depends on your budget I traveled from

HCMC-Mui ne by bus 130,000 vnd £3.94 then 5 hours

Mui Ne-Nha trang bus about the same cost 6 hours

Nha trang to Hoi An by plane 1hr 15 minutes but cost about £40 each

With only having ten days I would recommend flying between nha trang and hoi an as train/bus takes around 12 hours.

<<we are looking for clean beaches, clean air, clean food and clean water. Unfortunately it seems that phu Quoc is already full...>>

#6 If no avail in PQ the best choose is the Airasia website, any thai beaches will fit your idea....

#5 Yes it a very busy 4 lanes two way road, every beach around the world has one. In Italy we have usually the old railway tracks....What I can't understand in Nha Trang is with all the booming in construction sites is it so difficult to put at least 1 pedestrian traffic light or an overpass....
