I am returning to Hanoi the last week of Feb and on my last visit I ran across Drum street by accident while wandering.. I would like to find Drum Street again, does anyone know it' s approximate location and name in Vietnamese? I am specifically in search of hand drums and monk's harps and various percussion instruments. I know many shops and stalls carry items but I want to view a large assortment not just odds and ends. Any info much appreciated, so frustrating looking for something that you found while lost ! Thank s

Heres anothttp://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2579142-hanoi_tours-iher mention -

"Hang Da Market to your left. As with most Vietnamese markets, it makes for an interesting stroll. Piles of fresh vegetables, animal entrails and slices of pig fat fill the hall. The Market also reveals a good spot for buying pottery.

Opposite the market runs another narrow alley, Yen Thai, which takes you to Hanh Manh. This street sells traditional musical instruments, and you may see workers making ceremonial drums. "

Drum Street is "Hang Trong" (Hàng Trống) in Vietnamese. It is very close to and is west of Hoan Kiem Lake .

If you go to the Golden Lotus Hotel website (www.goldenlotushotel.com.vn), and click on "Location" you'll see the hotel map. The hotel is located on Hang Trong!

Hope that helps.
