Quivertree Family Expeditions Strikes Again (In a Good Way)

This was our second trip with Quivertree and we were very pleased with the trip. Although we traveled without children this time, the service was still highly commendable. Quivertree's partner Indochina Charm provided a wonderful, knowledgeable guide (Vu Dang) that we enjoyed having as our companion for the 10 days in Vietnam. The itinerary covered all of the major highlights of the northern portion of the country including the Ho Chi Min Mausoleum, Hao Lo Prison, cruising Halong Bay, and trekking in Sa Pa. We were also treated to experiences with more of a local flair. Dang did a wonderful job of introducing us to the culture as well as the people. One of the more memorable highlights of the trip was being invited to wedding celebration with a Black Hmong family as we walked through a village near Sa Pa. The family treated us to wine and food, and was genuinely happy to have us in their home on this momentous occasion. A memory like that will last a lifetime.

Although we only spent 4 days in Cambodia, we were able to take in many of the temples from Angkor Wat to Angkor Thom. Quivertree partnered with Three Naga Tours who provided us another knowledgeable guide (Yiv Chhayleang) with whom we made fast friends. He was able to answer all of our questions about the history of the various temples as well as the history of the country. Sadly we arrived in the country 2 days after the passing of the former king so everyone was in a state of morning, but they were still very welcoming to us. From the staff at our hotel to the guides for our horseback riding and quad-bike excursions, we experienced nothing but pleasantries during our stay. On our last day we took the recommendation of Yiv and went temple exploring on our own. We got thoroughly lost in the Ta Prohm complex. As we wandered through the ruins we couldn't help but be awed by the intricate way nature has both ruined and saved the temple. Seeing firsthand the jungle trees winding their way into the ruins is something that just can’t be described in words.

We look forward to future trips with Quivertree and their trusted partners so we can build more once-in-a-lifetime memories!
