Eye glasses Specs- purchasing in Phuket? |
|
Hi - I was wondering if Phuket has optical shops where maybe you can buy trendy specs frames and either get the lenses put in (could take my prescription)... or just get that done back at home. I'd imagine I'd be more likely to find that sort of shop here that Krabi? Cheers! |

hi! there's loads of optometrist there, i bought a pair of sporty puma sunnies in bangkok for my husband and when we went to phuket (kata) we had prescription lenses made up and put into the puma frames and even got them tinted so they pretty much look like sunglasses but prescription, and this took about a week and only cost around $120 nzd which was pretty good we thought, it would've cost alot less but because he got tinted lenses.soooo cool!...if you need a 2nd pair it's sooo much cheaper to get them there.

we purchased prescription eyeglasses from EyeLab at Central Phuket for 1500thb ($50AU) and Calvin Klien Prescription lense sunglasses for $160AU, & that included an eyetest, a fraction of the cost in Australia.

I buy my glasses in Thailand. Eye shops everywhere. Have mostly used Choeron Optical (spelling?), Prices very good anywhere in Thai, and quality the same as anywhere. Asked my US eye doc about it, he said many lenses sold in USA are made in Thai.
