Hi Dangerdan.

I don't know whether they allow you to take the bikes off the island. I did take one to Khao Lak once, I considered going to Krabi as well but KL it was. As I didn't have an accident the operator was none the wiser, and they didn't really check the odometer either.

You could live up to your name and go regardless, or just ask.

Good luck on the roads, go easy.

1. You can't rent motorbikes at Phuket Airport.

2. If you have any substantial luggage, how would you transport it?

3. The roads are dangerous for inexperienced riders and I just wouldn't risk it!

4. It would take you 4ish hours on a Honda Wave/Dream. Ouch!!

Most rental places are independant, so my guess would be no. On the other hand if they had relatives with another store there they might. I still agree with the other posters that it is dangerous unless you are experienced on a bike and understand the Thai road rules.

Generally the moto shops don't want you to leave the island with the moto. Have seen a couple of contract papers that mentioned big fees if you were caught off island. But it is Thai, if you dont want to take a chance getting caught by her 'aunt' at the petro station in Krabi, see if you can negotiate it with the shop before you rent. An extra 100 baht or so and you may get their blessing.

But dude! a scooter? a ride like that really deserves a bigger bike. Big bikes are available in Phuket, would serious consider a bigger bike. As above, be upfront when you rent as to your plan, getting on the wrong side of a Thai can quickly become a real problem.
