Sheraton pattaya resort

Know its out of the way, but is there any bars/restaurants near the hotel?

what about transport in and out of pattaya? Noted that scooter hire is not recommended.

We don't recall any near the Sheraton, which is a mile or so outside the centre of Pattaya and therefore peaceful. There is the huge Royal Cliff Resort virtually next door to the Sheraton and that has loads of restaurants, but you will pay big hotel prices - good quality, though.

Outside the Sheraton entrance, you could usually find lurking "songtheaw" vans to take you into the town e.g. Walking St - it is a few years since we were there. Also, the Sheraton then had a (free) shuttle into town that operated a few times per day. Coming back from town, we used to wave down a cruising songtheaw, which - from my unreliable memory - was about 150 baht.

There're many good ones around the area. Cabbage and Condoms (I know the name sounds weird but it's a nice restaurant indeed) serves authentic Thai and Western food in a beach front atmosphere. Less than 5 mins from Sheraton. I would recommend this place.

If you feel like Western food, there're Bruno's (Steakhouse), Gian (Italian) and Pan Pan (Italian) less than 10 mins from the hotel. There's also one Indian restaurant around there. All of what I mentioned are decent ones.

Easiest way to go in and out is via hotel shuttle bus. They'll drop you at city center and from city center, you can go anywhere with Songthaew.

Have fun : )

Here are a couple maps. If you do not mind walking a bit you might discover something. But 90% of the things many tourists usually look for are in or near the Pattaya City area. Pattaya City area is where you have more choices for restaurants, modern malls, nightlife you can visit or ignore, street vendors, supermarkets and even new movie theaters. Not to mention local transportation in Pattaya City is 10 baht.

You are sort of at the mercy of LURKING baht buses that you negotiate your ride with. Paying more just goes with expensive hotels! Same for other remote areas. Any price you pay a Thai driver will be cheaper than the same distance back home if that is any consolation. But in the city it is 10 baht!

Thanks for all the advise, we have stayed at Pattaya before but stayed central at The Royal Garden. Wanted somewhere a bit quieter this time!

Have you considered the Dusit? its in a much better position at the north end of the beach road. You'll be able to get around most of the main sites and shopping area without always taking a taxi. Its a great hotel with fine grounds and garden, wonderful staff and fine series of pools its also directly on the sea no busy road to cross.

Try TravelBag their website and some great prices for this hotel up to the end of October.

Thanks but got a brilliant deal with Virgin Holidays. Got 12 nights in the Sheraton for only a few quid more than the cost of Emirates flighs! To good to miss!

If no chance to stay at other hotel.I not see much the bar around your resort.

Sheraton is quite in a night time if you hire a scooter and go back to hotel late at night not to recommend.
