Suvarnabhumi Airport : Anywhere with day rooms? |
Does anyone know whether the Novotel at the airport offers dayrooms or whether there are dayrooms at the airport itself like Singapore or Kuala Lumpur? Also, any initial reads on how the airport is doing after a week of being open in terms of how it's handling check in, luggage claim, etc? I heard that Thai Airways is advising passengers to check in 3 (!!!!) hours before departure now? For a 6am flight, that would be a total drag! Thanks! |
You have the hotel The Miracle by louis tavern inside the airport, it cost 1000 bahts for 6 hours.
I think the Miracle is in the old airport not the new one... I would double check.
i have sent several emails to the miracle hotel inquiring about day rooms and have not received a response. anybody reserved these rooms? do they typically fill up (is a reservation really necessary?) thanks
Seems there was a press release announcing that Louis Tavern would be opening a day room facility at the new airport - in fact what Pimilian has is almost right off the press release. However, I don't see any mention of any dayrooms on the airport web site or on their terminal maps and I don't have any more information either - so was hoping those of you out there who have passed through the new airport already might know. Thanks
If there are day rooms they were not up and running on the 27th of September - could be by now. Anyone?
I am not sure if the day rooms by Miracle Grand Louis Tavern are open yet, but I managed to find a phone number for them: +66 6 317 2211. If you are calling from within Thailand, dial 06 317 2211. It appears they do not accept reservations. The price seems to have gone up too: 2,000 baht for 4 hours. They are located on the 4th floor, section G of Suvarnabhumi airport ("Soo-wan-na-boom"). Good luck! KK

Some more info... the Novotel Suvarnabhumi, which is connected to the airport, offers a "Deluxe Fresh Up Stay" for 2,500 baht for 4 hours. May be worth the extra cost if Louis Tavern day rooms are 2,000 for 4 hours. Novotel can be reached on +66 2 131 1111 or within Thailand call: 02 131 1111.

Thankyou so much ExpatKK! That is really helpful! Didn't know the Novotel had that deal! we will have to use either as we have a six hour stopover. Appreciate you taking the time to let us know!! Cheryl

Hi, I arrive into Suvanabhumi at 6.05, but then dont depart again till 23.45 that evening. I have been looking for a day hotel, but would you suggest the Novotel 'Fresh up' as the best option.. Is it easy to do a tour of the city during this time?
I would suggest looking into both options to confirm whether the prices are current and correct. Information in Thailand can often be inconsistant and requires some follow up. If indeed these prices are correct, I suggest going with the Novotel "Fresh Up" as the best value. It is a brand new 4-star hotel with very nice rooms and facilities. Novotel also has a day use rate of 4,500 baht between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. For more info, visit www.sawadee.com/hotel/bangkok/novotelsuvarna/ Your layover between 6:00 and 23:00 is plenty of time to see some of Bangkok. The best way to do this is to take a taxi to the nearest Skytrain station, which is Mo Chit. If you arrive on the weekend, you can check out the huge market below Mo Chit station. Be sure to go early though as it gets very hot and crowded by 11am. From there take the Skytrain into Siam Square. This is the center of town with many malls and lots of Bangkok energy! Riding one stop further will get you to National Stadium station where you can walk to the Jim Thompson House at the end of a small road (Soi Kasem San 2). You will see a sign, or just ask someone. Jim Thompson House is a historical and beautiful teak house - you can take a tour or just enjoy the peaceful retreat at the cafe. Also worth seeing and early in the day is the gorgeous Grand Palace. You can take the Skytrain to Saphan Taksin station, above the river. Walk down the stairs to the river and get a river-taxi upriver to Tha Chang pier. Walk to the front of the palace to the main entrance. Do not believe anyone who tells you the palace is closed unless you have arrived after 3pm. There are many smaller locked gates along its walls, but the main entrance is open every day. Also nearby is the impressive Wat Poh (Poh Temple), accessible by foot, taxi or river taxi at Tha Tien pier. This should be enough to keep you busy and ready for a nap back at your hotel. Have fun!
