Hi,

Your best bet is the Kao San road area.

Suk 11 Hostel. Good location for walking to many things. Nana Skytrain stop available too.

Good idea to provide a price range for your hostel. After Bangkok not too many hostels available but guest houses are not that expensive.

Have fun.

Safe backpacker area = Khao Sans Rd. You will pay much less for accommodation, restaurants and beers and be with other like minded tourists.

Your also near to the river in this area and all the major sights and temples etc

i recently stayed at Lamphu House and felt very safe as a sole female traveller. Great communal area and different rooms at modest rates.

Rambuttri Road runs adjacent to Khao San Road and is a bit more relaxed and laid back than KSR and has nicer restaurants and bars and hotels, but easy walking to KSR to backpacker interaction.
