We're going to Leofoo Village on Dec. 29, 2008. Is it convenient to take public transportation especially there are 11 of us and of which 4 are kids aged 9, 12, 13 & 14? How much more or less would it cost? Is it worth renting a van that would cost us NT 5,000 coz I find it quite expensive and a waste of money since the bus will just be waiting for us the whole day?

Please advise what we could do.

Thanks

Taipei > Leofoo Village Theme Park (Hsinchu County – Guansi Township)

A convenient way to travel is to board a MRT train heading towards “Nanshijiao”. Alight at Jing-an Station. Board TaiLien’s E-go (Taiwan United) buses outside Jing-an Station to Leofoo. Bus fare: NT$120 (one-way) NT$240 (return) Travel time: About 1 hr one-way

For more information on opening hours, admission tickets, bus schedules etc, check out website: www.leofoo.com.tw/village/parkinfo_ticket.php

Hi,

Anyway, you can take MRT to Zhong Xiao Dun Hua Station. Exit the station at exit 8.

Cross the road on the left to the bus stop and board the coach with '台連客運' on the top of windscreen.

The coach will stop at the ticketing counter half way through the journey for ticket purchase.

Bus interval is 40min.

Bus journey is 1.5hr,

Ticket price is NT$120 (one-way) NT$240 (return)

For admission tickets, remember to bring along the youth travel card or student card (overseas student card also can) for discount - student cards has more discount.

29Dec is a Monday, some of the rides will be under maintenance, but one good thing is it won't be so crowded.

You can have a look at my photoblog, if it helps =)

Thanks alot for the info TaiwanDIY & DawnGel!

DawnGel, what day did you go to Leofoo? As long as the rapids will be available on Monday I think that will be fine. One of my daughters is not really that adventurous. In fact she doesnt want to ride the roller coaster. I also saw the wheel from the Miramar hotel. Where is that located? Can we ride the ferris wheel at the miramar hotel?

I think we will try taking the MRT. Aside from being able to save around NT2,000 the kids can also experience public transport in taipei.

I went on a Monday too =)

The rapids are available. Actually, the rides are not really adventurous. Personally, I do not take rides, but I took them without any problem. So its needless to say that 'adventurous' people will find the park rather boring.

But for kids, they should be able to enjoy it and they are some performances and photo-taking sessions throughout the day in the park which the kids will welcome =)

From the Miramar Wheel, yes, we rode on it. The view is quite nice. And it located at the top of a shopping mall - can do some shopping or have dinner there. We got discounted tickets for the ride using youth travel card - NT150/pax. There should be discounted price for students/kids too. You can enquire over the counter.

You can reach there by a free shuttle from Jian Tan Station.

There is a picture of how the bus look in my website.=)

Hope it helps...Cheers.

If you haven't been to Yeliu/Jiufen before, I will strongly recommend going there instead of Leofoo.

If you are a theme park fan...I suggest you give Leofoo a miss, cos my two theme-park-crazed pals was pretty dissappointed when we were there.

Hi,

Since there are only 2 of you, it might be too costly to take a cabbie tour.

But a cabbie tour is more relax and can cover more.

野柳(風景區/海洋世界) > 九份老街 > 金瓜石 > 南雅 > 鼻頭 > 阴阳海 > jing tong (wooden postcard) > 平溪 - 放天燈 (傍晚) > 廟口夜市

We travelled the above itinery in 1 day.

We engaged Mr Meeky Yang on our trip

Phone: 0921915586

Email: meeky589@yahoo.com.tw

But his price is quite steep - NT3000 for 3 of us.

We happened to obtained the namecard of another chauffeur service which we booked our airport transfer cab from - the price is pretty reasonable and the driver was polite and nice. From our conversation with the driver, the service they provides is quite similar to Meeky Yang but price is not so steep.

*They use a normal car, not the yellow cabbie kind.

You might want to ask for quote from them.

Mr Yang Bo Wei 杨伯蔚

Phone: 0911942288

Email: carepower@hotmail.com

Alternatively, if you choose public transport as we did the first time round [<NT400/pax], the details are as follow. But we only managed to cover Yehliu, JiuFen and Keelong then. We were pretty much tire out by the end of the day.

MRT西门町> MRT 台北 Main Station

Go outdoors and walk to Taipei Intercity Bus Terminal on 重庆北路 (West of Taipei Railway Station)

Take 国光客运 "To 金山" route, Alight at "野柳" [80min journey]; Entrance Fee for YehLiu - NT50/pax

To JiuFen:

In front of the 便利店 opposite where you alight at 野柳, Take the bus "To 基隆 " route. Alight at 基隆 station, take bus "To 金瓜石" route;Alight at 九份 [after the “Police station” stop, the 2nd Jiufen stop, near the 7-11 located at the entrance to 九份老街。

Walk down the long steps @ 九份, Follow the road out to residential area and a large temple where the bus stop is, then take bus to 基隆.

P.S. Hmmm..seems lengthy...hope it helps ^_^

The windows of china have nice minatures..and should be worth going too. Alot of nice reviews on the forum.

I did not go there though due to time constraint.
