As a single female traveller just wanted advice on safety in thamel, is it safe to be out late by yourself? Is personal safety a concern?

Hello AJClegs

It’s not always safe to be late by yourself not only in thamel in any other place you visit. It’s always good to get to your hotel after after 10 pm onwards.

Have safe travel

#1 has a sound advice. As is Thamel shuts down after 11 pm anyway. Just use common sense - like not getting wasted in a bar with strangers etc. Nepal is one of the safest places that there is in my view - way safer than lots of other countries in SE Asia. But there are occasional instances where foreigners get in trouble either OD'ing on substance ab(use) or recklessly trekking alone.

As a solo female traveller I've never had problems in Nepal. It's a safe country. As Neupane says, obviously needs to use the common sense...
