 Southern India

I am thinking of touring Southern India this summer. I have heard all the ancient temples and cities are found there hidden in jungles because invadaers didn't go that far south. I am also more interested in the nature and people than the Taj Mahal. I have been looking online and I haven't seen many tours that fit this. Any suggestions about how I could arrange such a tour.

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Hyderabad

There are lot of ancient temples in South and most of them are are located in Tamil Nadu, even other states do have but the Tamil Nadu Tourism has more popularised these temples as part of Tourism.

I would suggest first to make a list of any specific temples if you are aware of and which is interesting you most, apart from that if you can arrive in Chennai there are Operated Tours by the Tourism Dept. or even you can take hire a Car from them a reasonable prices and they will guide you accordingly. The Tamil Nadu Government Tourism based website is http://www.tamilnadutourism.org/ where you can find more of info. Similary you can try searching for more info in the South states of Karnatka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

You can explore the option of doing your own bookings directly instead of going to a travel agent. That takes a lot of time and research - and this forum definitely helps. I plan my own trip personally - takes me months - but I only travel once a year.

Talking of ancient cities I guess you were refering to Hampi. The temples in South are great - check out Madurai , Mahabalipuram, Suchindram ( south of Trivandrum).
