I have a close friend over there, She looks after my place, and I send her Money every Week, it is cheaper to do it that way, than booking each time. Works out at about £325 a Year.. You could spend that on a week at Hotel..!
Do you mean £250 for accomodation..???
or is it for total, of accom and food etc., ?
Accom near Senegambia can be had for about 3,000 +.
Roughly £75 a Month. Plus Water and Electric.
Where are you doing your volunteer work..?
You may want to get in touch with Francis at GTS,
He may have some idea's.

Hope that helps a bit.
Rich..
Hi Rich, thanks for the info.
I mean it's £250 for our accommodation budget, ideally to include utility bills. We really don't have much money, so what you're paying for your place is fantastic & MUCH better than what we've been quoted so far! What do you think we will be able to get for our budget accommodation wise & how does it usually work with utility bills there - i.e. how much roughly? We are not looking for a cleaner etc as we are more than capable of doing this ourselves. This guy, Francis you mention at thje GTS, is he someone that you know & will he be able to give us accurate info about visas & work permits??
The info so far has been fab, so thank you & keep it coming if you have any more!
Kind Regards, Georgina
Hi Georgina,
You could pay up to 5,000 for some rooms in that area, about £125 a Month.
Elec about 1,200 if you have Fridge, Computer etc. £26 ish
Water about 150 to 300 a Month. £8 ish
So you will have plenty of money left for a Good few Julbrews...!!!!
\you should be able to have 2 Bed place with Water and Electric.
Basic furniture on some, some without..
Known Francis for Years, drove over a few times, with Charity stuff for him.
He is pretty clued up..
Rich...
I paid 3500 dalasis a month for a 2 bed house in Kerr Serign which is very close to Kololi, paid extra for electricity but only paid around 500 dalasis a month, using a fridge and fan. Water was included. No website but I can try and get the number of the landlord if you like?
You should easily get somewhere for less than 4000 dalasis in this area.
Thanks for your help guys, all this information is being very gratefully received.
Rich, I will try to get in touch with Francis as soon as possible & thanks for the ideas of utilities. Which area is it that you stay in?
Sandyrey, I would love contact details for the landlord, or any local letting agents. If we can get somewhere for around 3500-4500 dalasis a month, to include bills & water, this really would be brilliant. Anything cheaper would be an added bonus!
We are not really fussy, but would definately need 2 bedrooms & would love a flushing toilet!
How does it work with local landlords? We are visiting for 10 days in November, so ideally would like to have a place sorted when we leave, ready for february & been to the immigration office too. Thank you for all your kind advice!
I support a friend who pays D4000 per month for a 3 bedroom house in manjai kunda WITH 2 FLUSHING TOILETS, quite close to the main road so good in rainy season too, so you seem well within u budget.
All this information is fantastic. So, how do I find out about letting agents? I have spent hours on line looking but all I can find are holiday rental apartments not an actual local agent. If anyone can pass on an agent or local landlords details that I can make contact with, then this would be brilliant. Thanks All
Think you said you are going over in November? The best thing you can do is wait til you get there and talk to locals. A lot of the places that are available to rent don't get advertised in 'real estate' agents, they just have a sign on the compound gate. There are two places near us that are up for rent and neither are in any agents or on any website. The locals will know places for rent.
So do you own a place out there or have a regular rental? Thanks for the advice though, will keep that in mind
Hi alwayswishing, one thing to be aware of is that most landlords expect a deposit even though I read on here that PJ declared this illegal, I had to pay 2months rent as a deposit on our apartment. Still it is very good value at just 1500 dalassi a month for a brand new place!! I used to pay 3500 a month before for some where not as good and I thought I had a bargain then!! Like Kerr said ask around when you get there you will find better deals than going to an agency.
