No flights to the south?

We are planning 4-5 days in the south of Ethiopia, so we wanted to fly to Jinka to save some time. But apparently the airport there is now closed? Are there any other destinations in the south that we could fly into? Or. if we travel by road to Omo national park, how many days of travel are we looking at?

I'm under the impression that Omo national park is the best area in the south to visit. Does anyone have a different opinion or alternative suggestion for getting a taste of the south?

Thank you!

1. Re: No flights to the south?

If you want to join the people looking at the human zoo in omo fine. Most people love it. (Not me)

You can easily get to konso in a day now, tarmac all the way.

You can fly to Arba Minch the last big town before Omo but it is not a daily flight.

See schedule on ethiopian Airlines website BUT if you book tickets there it costs more than twice the price you can buy them for in addis.

blueskyethiopia.com will book them for you.

Thanks for your help. Do you think Konso and Omo National Park is the nicest place in the south to check out?

Perhaps we could travel by road one way and fly back.

I see Shasheme and Lake Langano mentioned a lot, as well. Are they worth checking out on the way?

Shasamane - not really.

Lake Langano yes - suggest a night at Sabena Lodge.

One way road/ 1 way flight is a good idea.

Have sent pm.
