Hi

We have just got back from 7 days on Cerf Island. I can't comment on what the weather will be like in January but we were told to expect dry weather in October & that wasn't the case!

The humidity never dropped below 75% so it was constantly hot & sticky. Most days had lot's & lot's of grey clouds and there was plenty of rain. However, this rain does blow over really quickly, so much so that you can be continue laying on the beach/ around the pool.

All locals/ staff at our resort said that the weather changes almost hourly so even if the weather is fantastic in the morning, it can be rainy by the afternoon and vice versa. We took a catamaran boat ride around Saint Annes Marine Park & didn't encounter one drop of rain but back on Cerf they had showers all day!

Dear Kate Cold

Sorry to jump on the forum of mode gc but am very interested in Kate's experience of Cerf. We are thinking of a week there for a romantic break. I have read your hotel review and wonder if you would take the time to give even more detail. What were drinks prices like? Snorkelling good? How much was the trip to St Anne's? Could you walk to other beaches apart from the one that looks quite small near the jetty? What did you do each day? Did you try the spa? Any good? Spa prices? etc etc. I'd be delighted to hear as much about your trip as you are willing to tell! Thanks

We have just visited in october and locals told us they hadn't had a dry season for two years! there were storms when we went but they passed quickly and within wenty minutes it was a glorious summers day again! Wouldn't put us off going in jan at all, if that is any help.

ukmummy.

i got married on Cerf - it was beautiful, we had exclusivity of the resort for 2 days, i would go back in a heartbeat.

Then we honeymooned for 3 days on St Anne, the spa was very very nice (but very very expensive!), the staff were great (they are not Seychellois but from Mauritius!), but after the 3 days unless you were going on trips there was not much to do unless you want to chill by the pool all day.

We ate at Le Mont Fleuri restaurant on Saint Anne in the evening (its no extra cost, but you have to book) - the food was absolutely stunning!!

The safest time to avoid the rain is prob Feb/Mar/Apr time - but you still get the odd shower - hello people!!! this is the tropics we are talking about not the desert!!!

Your choice of the Northolme is an excellent one. Completely top-notch and without pretension. Just a wonderful time. I was there in Feb. and the weather was great. Morning can be cloudy, but by noon it's blazing hot. Be sure and take a very good sunblock. I tan very easily and still had to be very careful right up until the last of my 10 day visit to the three main islands. I've never had such color before. I stayed at the Coco De Mer on Praslin and enjoyed it very much. I travel alone for the most part, and don't like too much fuss (moist towellettes brought to you on a silver tray on the beach...) That sort of thing. I was told that Lemuria is lovely but very much an 'interactive' sort of resort with much fretting over guests. While this would be fine for lots of people, I don't need to be asked if I need anything every 10 minutes. I require friendly, professional staff and solitude. The food was excellent in both locations, but do avoid La Digue Island Lodge. See my review: More Hole Than Hotel. It's a 20 min. boat trip from Praslin and I will only ever do a day trip to the island again. You cannot miss seeing La Digue, just avoid the wretched Lodge.

Have a wonderful trip ! Don't worry about the weather. Even if it's raining it's hot, although I saw very little rain during my stay. A stunning place kept that way because of it's location (miles from anything) and because it is expensive. If it wasn't, the place would quickly lose it's private feeling and exclusive ambience. Cheers.

Hello There, Have to say... Sorry, I would not spend out money going to the Seychelles in Jan. January is wet and cloudy. Yes I agree with others in the forum, it is very humid still. With grey cloudy skies, you can't see how beautiful the islands are. You need sunshine. Try to go in May, but when ever you decide to go, remember the Seychelles (Mahe) is full of mountains and hills covered in plants and trees- which also attracts clouds, and clouds bring rain. HOPE THIS HELPS?
