Bun venit pe forumul Seychelles!
First of all if you love nature and you want a more retreat vacation, Praslin should be your choice. Not only that Praslin is the home of coco de mer (Vallee de Mai) but also offers great day trips to Cousin (bird sanctuary) and Curieuse (where giant tortoises are roaming freely). I stayed in both hotels and both have their positives and negatives. Let's start with Raffles:
- good location with villas overlooking Curieuse Marine Park, cosy and small private pools with nice furnishings inside. You have complimentary wired and wireless internet connection. When you check in you will receive a butler which will take care of you during your stay.
- food is very good: you have Losean which is offering buffet breakfast and dinners with different theme nights while Curieuse Restaurant offers great seafood: red snapper, octopus, tuna steaks or lobster. Dinners are very pricey: 2 main courses and 2 glasses of wine can break your bank of 150-175 euro per night. If you want to save money just go for Anse Volbert restaurants (a hired car or a pre-booked taxi is needed)
- beach is nice but can not match the beauty of Anse Lazio which is 10 mins away from Raffles
- we found Raffles not so private because villas were built very close one from the other; this is one of the reasons I like more Four Seasons.
Ephelia is located just near Baie Ternay Marine Park with one beach (North Beach) that I like very much because it offers good snorkeling and private coves. It offers a wide range of accomodations from junior suites to private villas. Food is good but not great, going HB will allow you to choose the restaurant during the evening, so you will save money vs Raffles. Ephelia is offering more activities than Raffles: ziplining and rock climbing just to name a few.
If I would have to choose between the two I would definitely choose Raffles because Praslin is more deserted, the views, service and food are over what Ephelia offers. A maximum of 2 hours will take the trip from Mahe to Raffles (1 hour in the airport, 15 mins the flight and 30 minutes to take your luggage and the taxi drive from Praslin airport to Raffles).
