Bird island and La digue

We are travelling to Bird island and then to the paradise flycatcher lodge with our 3 children in July. Can anyone help with packing tips for bird -10kg luggage each! Also, restaurant tips for la Digue? Does anyone know how far Paradise flycatcher is from the shops etc?

Many thanks.

I've not been to Bird, but general packing tip is you'll need hardly anything on La Digue its very laid back. Swimsuit, shorts/t-shirt or a dress. For the evening, I would recommed pretty much the same without the swimsuit! Lots of mozzie spray and a small torch. The shops are close by PFC, there is Gregoirs supermarket, but also a smaller place that sells drinks, beers, snacks and a few bits. Gregoirs is very well stocked. Chez Marston and Gregoirs pizza are close by and both great for families.

We flew to bird after our wedding on Mahe. We left the majority of our luggage back at our hotel on Mahe as we were returning there after our stay on bird before flying home.

You wont need much on bird, we took a small holdall each and never wore half of that. Take your main staple stuff like tshirts/swimming cossies and dont forget blokes need long trousers at dinner. I would definitely pack some mozzie repelant/and or one of those plug in mozzie things.

have a lovely time, bird island is VERY unique - you will leave revitalised and relaxed like you have never know before as there is nothing to do - no tv, no cars - nothing - just fab!
