Restaurants

Hi my husband and I are going to Marrakech in December, staying at Jardins de la Koutoubia. Need advice on restaurants couple of good ones and some cheapish but good cafe/restaurants within medina, would consider outside medina but prefer inside.

Has anyone been to 'Jana Restaurant' (this is situated within Pacha nightclub complex) ? If anybody knows it have they eaten there, what is food, atmosphere, service and prices like. Has anyone been to Pacha nightclub again what is this like, what are clientele like and what are prices like for drinks?

Also been looking at Le Comptoir Restaurant. How does this compare to Jana(above).

We would consider eating at the stalls of D'jeema El Fna if anyone can reccommend which stall numbers are good.

Please help as we go in 3 weeks, we would like as many opinions as possible.

Thanks.

Lisa and David.

Jana restaurant is very stylish , but more expensive than Comptoir and less of a buzzy atmosphere. Le Comptoir is not expensive !! , 750 Dhs for 2 , less than £50 , the others that have been there must have had a lot to drink, this will push up the bill in any bar/ restaurant in Morocco. Jad Mahal is also very good, with great live band after 11:30. Saffran and canelle is just a touristy place in a 3 star package hotel, naff!.

Eating on the stalls in the square is risky, i know of many people being ill, plus they often rip you off with invented prices , and the food is often crap.

Best cheapie is Chez chegrouni, in all guide books.

Last few times ive been to pasha , it has not been busy , with no atmosphere, and very expensive drinks . there is a great new Japanese restaurant in the Palmerie golf complex , very trendy , also for moroccan try the newly opened Tanjia in the Mellah , near Place de Ferblantiers . Enjoy ....
