suggestions for travel between marrakech and fez

Hi. we will be in marrakech for 4 days and are renting a car for 5 days after that to see the coast and we are ending up after that in fez for 4 days Then taking a train back to marrakech to fly home. Can anyone give suggestions of what to do with the 5 days we have with the car. We don;t have enough time to do the desert but we are open to anything else. We love architecture, history, shopping etc. Thanks for any suggestions,

It is not so easy to suggest what you can do and I think the best would be to buy guidebook and search there. You find also many tip for tours so maybe you find there something suitable for you?

As you've already worked out, by deciding to go to the coast you don't have time to also head east to the sand dunes.

Personally I'd go over the Test pass to Taroudannt (overnight), then to Tafraoute (overnight), then Sidi Ifni (overnight), then north to Essaouira (overnight). But that leaves you in the wrong position to get to Fez with only one day and a very long drive, even though much of it could be motorway.

are you planning to drive to Fes or take the train both ways?

Because that will impact what you do beforehand
