Marrakesh - Casa - Essaouria = Planes, Trains or taxi's?

Hi planning to Fly into Marrakesh with the family (6 in total), looking to stay in the main square for about 2 days and then head up to Casablanca (Hassan II masjid) overnight (stay if i must) and then head down to Essaouria for two nights then back to Marrakesh. What’s the best way to get round please? Looking at using the Train as they are most likely cheaper than the planes or Taxi's? Any suggestions / support appreciated thanks.

My advice, and the general opinion of other I expect, will be to avoid Casablanca. Start at Marrakech and then head directly to Essaouira; the travel time by either bus (cheapest option) or taxi will be in the region of 3 hours. There is so much to see in both Marrakech and Essaouira and I fear you would be very disappointed once in Casa where you will really only see the Mosque and Rick's Cafe if you really have to see this at all.

Thanks for the advise chaps, so there is no train to Essaouria from Casa?

So would it be better to get the 3.5hrs (i think) train back to Marrakesh and then head out to Essaouria via coach? if so what would be the rough cost of the coach journey please? Thanks.

(ps. Im a he by the way :-)

What is transport touristique please? Tourest rail pass / card?

Having done a bit of research on here it looks likes the best thing to do is a Day Trip to Casablanca: get the Early train (around 7:00am) from Marrakesh to Casablance and see the main site the Hussan II masjid, graba bite to eat and then head back on the late train back (around 6:00pm)?

I would leave out Casa altogether. You only have two days in Marrakech. If you want to see all of the sights you will be rushing. There is a lot of beautiful architecture in Marrakech.

Also, the train ride to Casa is boring.

10. Re: Marrakesh - Casa - Essaouria = Planes, Trains or taxi's?

Apologies in advance for a minor tangent (although it may also be useful for the OP) but I am really struggling to work out whether it is sensible to take a suitcase on the train (Marrakech - Fez, in my case). I am assuming that a standard, 22kg suitcase won't fit in the overhead section of the 1st class compartment?

Are holdalls/rucksacks a better option?

Thanks
