Pregnant in Marrakech

Hi, I will be travelling to Marrakech next weekend for a friends wedding and will be 32 weeks pregnant at the time. I am only in the city for 3 days but I just wanted to have the contact number of a good private hospital or doctor should I need them?

Many thanks

Hi,

Marrakech has very good medical cover in case of accident/emergency/illness. In the first instance your hotel or riad would call a GP to visit you and if necessary you would go to the Polyclinique du Sud in Gueliz (for example) which can deal with most things. There are also specialist clinics for orthopoedics/opthalmics/gynaecology etc.

Hopefully you won't need any such thing but at least you know it's there!

0524444040 clinique internationale de Marrakech

Are you allowed to fly at 32 weeks? Does your travel insurance cover you?

I'm flying with Easyjet and they allow you to fly up to 35 weeks with a medical letter which I have. I have also checked with the travel insurance and they do cover me.

Is the Clinque International different from the Polyclinique du Sud in Gueliz?

Thanks

Hi,

www.clinique-internationale-marrakech.com/

Polyclinique du Sud (0524447999) corner of Rue de Yougoslavie and Rue ibn Aicha, Guéliz; 24hr emergency service.

I have used them (not for a pregnancy obviously!) and found that their services are excellent. Hope that all goes great for you Gemma.

Hi Gemma,

I'm curious to know how you got on in Marrakesh (& of course the birth if your baby). My husband and I are trying to plan a baby moon and having always wanted to go to Morocco thought we would quickly slip this trip in to Marrakesh before baby comes. We are quite anxious about the reviews about how woman can be treated though and the main fact that I will be 29 weeks pregnant is or main concern. But the riad looks so lovely rather than staying at a massive resort out of town.

Appreciate any tips or indeed advice to stay away while pregnant.

Thanks
