Hiking in the Atlas Mts

We will be traveling around Morocco by car for two weeks and want to pack light so I'm trying to decide whether to pack light hiking boots or sneakers for hiking in the Atlas Mts....any tips?

Thanks

depends where exactly in the Atlas you are going - if just going for a daytrip from Marrakech to somewhere like Ourika or Imlil then trainers should be fine. But if you are planning to stay in the mountains and do some proper hiking then you need boots.

Depends also on the time of year you are intending to visit.

Hi

Thank you for replying. We are going this wednesday June 19 until July 6 and we will be several days in the high Alas mts and 2 nights in the desert. SO, if anyone has suggestions as to whether we need light hikers or sneakers, I'd really appreciate it.

The most common injury in the mountains is twisted ankle. Wear boots.
