Romantic holiday to Marrakech

My boyfriend and I are looking to go on holiday to Marrakech in November this year, but aren't too sure where to stay. Initially we were looking at one of the out of town all inclusive places, but having read reviews aren't too sure the all inclusive it as actually worth it.

So really just wanted some hotel recommendations, and a general idea of how much food and drinks cost? Ideally we're looking for a relaxing break somewhere we can sit by the pool but also explore Moroccan culture! Our price range is approx £500 each for 5 days

Thank you!!

I'd suggest a riad in the medina. At most you will get a splash pool, but you will not need a pool in November as it is cold then. Most riads though will have a roof terrace where you can relax in the sunshine.

Have a look at Riads in the medina as well as hotels. If you stay in the medina you'll save on taxi fares and be closer to all the cultural sights. I'm afraid you will have to do a bit of searching using the green hotels tab at the top of the page but you can set price parameters to narrow things down to suit your budget then if a few places take your fancy send a message via their profiles to a couple of recent reviewers with specific questions.

Most Riads with pools only have a small plunge pool in their courtyard or a jaccuzi on the terrace so if you need a bigger pool have a look at Les Jardins de la Koutoubia hotel for example as an example of a hotel right by the main square in the old town but with all the facilities.

Food and drink prices can be as low or as high as you like. Street food is cheap as chips (as they say here too;-) and the restaurant tabs will give you loads of advice and recommendations.

The search box above your post will also yield lots of information posted by previous visitors. Type in key words and phrases and see what comes up. Sort by date for the most recent posts.

A good guide guide book is a great place to start planning.

For genuine Marrakshi culture I would also recommend a riad. AIl inclusive hotels offer a watered down 'Europeanised' version, including the food on offer unless you choose carefully. You would also be much closer to the main cultural attractions within the ancient medina which do not require a taxi, as stated above, to visit (thereby saving a bob or two!). In addition you have the experience of local staff to help. You would not be sitting around a pool in November although the daytime sun can be relatively strong. And lastly, from me, what could be more romantic than sitting on your roof terrace with your chosen drink as the sun goes down before sallying forth to one of the many hundreds of restaurants?

For a romantic retreat, we would like to inform you that to experience the real Moroccan life, it is nice that you stay in the Traditional Riads in the heart of the medina. The prices differ from one Riad to another. It is preferable that you seek a Riad with swimming pool and you pay between 130 and 160 £ per night per a double room.

There is the option also of staying in the new city ( L'hivernage quarter) where there are nice big hotels with big swimming pools and nice services. This section of L'hivernage is just about 15 mints walk to the big square.

Enjoy your holidays in Morocco.

There are many good riads in Marrakech with plunge pools that are less than 1625dh/night.

This is the third unreliable post from this new contributor.
