Factobox for reservation deposit

my hotel asked me to send a deposit via Factobox. There was a temporary hold and after a week, no withdraw. Does anyone have an experience with this? Thank you.

I paid for my deposit using factobox as well but did not encounter a hold like what you experienced. I suggest you drop them a mail to sort things out. Email can be found at the bottom of http://factobox.com/. Might be a good idea to contact your bank as well to check what's the reason for the hold.

However, I wanted to take this chance to point out an unrelated problem I encountered when I used Factobox's payment service for my Riad booking, in case someone else encounters the same problem as me.

My online payment transaction was really slow and it seems to be stuck at the 'processing' bar area of the payment webpage for more than 40mins after I click the 'pay' button. I'm not sure if it's because I've used google Chrome browser and not Internet Explorer, the quality of my internet, or something to do with factobox's server.

Turned out the transaction went through. Money was taken from my bank but no email was generated to inform me/ the Riad regarding the successful payment. Obviously the Riad thought I hasn't paid and I was told to pay again. Did it that evening using Internet Explorer browser and the payment went through smoothly. Decided to book another night the next day and the payment got through without any problems as well. Both successful transactions were paid using Internet Explorer browser.

Although I'm not sure what caused the initial failed transaction, I guess it's safer to pay using the Internet Explorer browser and not other browsers, just in case you encounter the same issue as I did.

My Riad got in touch with Factobox regarding the double-charge, and they credited the amount back to my bank account promptly. They called Factobox on Friday and the money was returned to me the following Tuesday.

I too have been asked for my credit card details to 'reserve' our room in Morocco and not knowing about Factobox, googled it and found a french forum (you have to translate the page) where it seems to be commonly used in Morocco. To cover myself I called my CC company and was assured that any fraudulent use on my card will be refunded.

Apparently this use of CC to reserve rooms is normal, and then you pay them whilst there in whatever way was agreed, in our case - euros - nothing (hopefully) put on our CC.

Just in case foe anyone reading this in the future. My boyfriend also used Factobox to pay for our 3 night stay in a Riad in Marrakech. We just came back today and he used his card to buy some food on our way home. His bank have just called to say his card has just been used to make payments online that he didn't recognise. Guess what, one of them for £165 was paid to a Factobox account. Seeing as they're mainly used in Morocco, I think someone has copied his details when he paid for the room and thought he was going to have a shopping spree for more than £500 on my boyfriend's account, unlucky for the cheating b****rd this time.

PayPal should be better to protect your CC details and not sharing them with sellers, Factobox is used by foreign riad owners to keep money out of country and not paying taxes. Every registered Moroccan business can have credit card machine nowadays.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for your opinion on Factobox. I am the CEO of Factobox, and I do not understand how you can have this review of our services if you do not know us. I invite you to contact us directly to learn a little more about us.

Our customers are riads that lack of secure payment systems. They do not involve customers who want their funds emigrate from Morocco. It is also thanks to our many services are present on Booking Riad because we facilitate the settlement of their bills. I await your mail or call so we can discuss.

I just saw your post on TripAdvisor. I am the CEO of Factobox. We set up secure payment systems to our merchants. Our system is as secure as paypal.

The absolute rule is not to give his credit card number to a stranger, even when it is a manager of RIAD. Maybe you have to book with Booking by leaving your card number. In which case, it is not the Factobox platform that is involved, but the payment process at the time of booking.

Could you make contact with us via our website so that I can identify the main reason of your problem?

Thank you,

G Blondeau - CEO Factobox

I made a reservation in a Riad in marrakesh, Morocco in 17/8/2015, and paid €526,60 with my credit card. Now, I got an email from the Riad that they didn't get the money from Facto Box. We will Be in Riad at 30/1/2016. Could someone from facto box answer to my question.

Did you paid the amount in Ref. No. 152292034434, which is given by my bank, to the Riad?

Or the owner of the Riad lies about your company.

Many French owned/ operated riads here in Morocco use Factorbox so that they avoid receiving money in dirhams locally, opting to receive funds in Euro out of the country which no doubt is of course undeclared.

Many riads this morning received an e-mail stating that collectively some are starting legal proceedings in France against Factbox and asked if any other riads want to join in this litigation, so my advice is NOT to pay your deposit via factorbox until the problems get resolved.

If your riad does not want to take your credit card deposit in dirhams into a local bank, I would advice you to find a riad that is honest and does accept payments locally.

I am sure your riad is telling you the truth, but regardless, it should not be up to you to make another payment. It is his problem that he has not been paid. I would speak to your credit card company to not authorise this payment and find another riad.
