I forgot that at dusk squadrons of swifts patrol the skies and housemartins swerve through the alleys. After dusk watch out for owls and bats. Harmess (to humans that is) geckos frequent terraces.

The swifts are indeed wonderful. If you are near water you can see them swoop down to take a beak-full of water en-flight. Apart from mating and nesting, the swifts keep in the air and at nighttime fly up to 5000ft or so, put their wings in 'energy saving mode' and drift off to sleep.

Morocco is indeed a twitters' (bird watchers') paradise. The white stork (actually black and white) is building nests at the moment and will be laying eggs soon. The white cattle egret (a form of heron) is commonplace and in exchange for feeding on the insects revealed by cattle in the fields, also clears the cattle of ticks.
