Purchase in Marrakech or Hight Atlas

Hello Forum,

I am in Marrakech leaving on Wednesday for the High Atlas. I want to purchase a Berber Jellaba, should I purchase here at the Souk or in a village on the road???

I do want my money to go to the real craftspeople.

Thank you for your reply. Weather is absolutely gorgeous !!!

Someone makes the cloth. Someone (normally someone different) cuts the cloth and makes the djellaba. Someone (often a third person) sells it. Who is the middleman?

In smaller towns often the seller is also the tailor. Making a djellaba isn't rocket science. My wife who is a wizz with a sewing machine could knock one up in minutes, it's basically a rectangular shape with a hole for the head and a couple of holes where the pockets go. Winter ones in heavier material with a hood.

Your best choice will be in Marrakech.
