morroco

We plan to fly into Morocco around the first of January. I guess Marrakesh for a couple of days and then....? Suggestions.... We plan to be there about 3 weeks or maybe a little more. Maybe a place to chill out for a week. We are seasoned travelers and take it easy. No camel rides. BTW, are the vendors as pushy has been told? Thanks.

in 3 weeks plenty to do: coast, mountain trekking and imperial cities to visit such as Rabat, Meknes and Fes. You can eventually split time between Marrakech and Fes and do day trips from either city. . that is if you don't mind much driving

Hi Studmiester;

Welcome to Morocco Travel forum;

So for 3 Weeks you have a lot to do and experience in Morocco, as Truebeliever has mentioned above.

You only need to arrange your itinerary and make your trip memorable, January is a good time too although it will be a bit cold, but it will be good not too budy in middle as it will be hectic at the beginning.

So i'd suggest to starting your trip from the East and leave west for the rest to enjoy it, and relax , as you can start your trip for Ex:

1 . casablanca-Rabat.

2 . Rabat Chefchaouen.

3. Exploring Chefchaouen.

4. Chefchaouen-Meknes-Volubilis and Fes.

5-6: Exploring Fes.

7- Fes-Cedar forest- Medilt.

8- medilt-Imilchil.

9- Imlchil-Merzouga ( Stay in Hotel as no one will push you to do a camel ride it's your trip and you are the one decide what to do).

10- merzouga -Todra Gorges-dades.

11- Dades-Skoura-Ouarzazate.

12- Ouarzazate-Tarroudant.

13- Tarroudant-Imlil.

14- Imlil and around exploring berber Villages.

15- Imlil -Marrakech.

16-17 Marrakech.

the Rest in Essaouira and before you leave try to spend the last day in Marrakech to do some Spa and Hammam, and try to experience inside this trip some of the local Moroccan Activities.

For Food specialitiesTry : In Fes ( Camel meat as a Brouchette) in Rissani ( Medfouna " Berber Pizza") In Marrakech try Tangia or one of teh Local specialities, as you can Experience the Couscous with some Local Family much better than a Restaurant.

For activities: in The desert they Offer Camel Treks and Desert Overnight if it interests you, Quad Biking on the Dunes, or at the Palmerie, Sand Boarding too, Try Snow-boarding in Michlifen, Oukaimden, In Essaouira you Can Experience Horse Riding, Jet Skies or some activities for the sea, in Marrakech and Fes Shopping, Cooking Classes.

So feel home and post your queries for anything concerns you or interests you to make in Morocco.

happy Travels.

You have time to buy and study a guiide book studmeister as well as checking out all the information here on TA. In this way you can devise your own itinerary to suit your own interests and not rely on someone else's.

Yes, agree with Pilobolus, buy a good guidebook and map over Morocco and study properly. After that you can do your itinerary self, 3 weeks is good time so you can see a lot. But anyway, make not your itinerary tight and not try to see all possible. Try to enjoy also of places and not rush through them only.
