Argan Oil and Carry on Luggage

I am trying to restrain myself and not overshop this visit, so Ive only booked a carry on bag, not hold baggage (fretting already because I love all things Morocco).

If I buy Argan Oil, I wont be able to bring it back with me in my carry on will I?

Alos, and tips on where to buy PROPER Argan Oil is always good, otherwise Ill just seek out my little man I always get it from :)

Thanks x

I dont know if you will be able to carry it on with your hand luggage........Marrakech customs are a bit hit and miss, I have always had no problems bringing liquids through (even 2 ltr bottled water) but I have seen other people have water/drinks taken off them.

As for proper Argan Oil, you really need to goto the factories near Essaouira (not the "tourist shops" on the road from Marrakech to Agadir but the actual factories on the road from Essaouira to Agadir).

If you cannot get there then my favourite place in Marrakech for Oil is Herboristerie Firdaous (near the Hotel Tazi). Fixed prices and good quality Argan Oil (it is worth going to this small shop just to smell all the essential oils they sell, I always leave there smelling a million dollars). If you want directions then PM me and I will send them to you......

Hi,

Assouse Argane on Rue de Mouassine (just beside the mosque/cafe Bougainvillea) is also a quality shop for cosmetic argan oil products.

There is a new shop on Rue Bab Doukkala (opposite the Henna Cafe) selling soap and argan products.

if you are going hand-baggae only, you can only bring back bottles less than 100ml each, and only what will fit in one one litre clear bag. all your liquids, including deoderant, toothpaste and cosmetics, need to fit, in a single layer, in that one bag.

customs have nothing to do with it. it is security who will check. all luggage was x-rayed on my last trip, and searches were carried out very thoroughly.

do note - there are separate queues for ladies and gentlemen at security.

Kickinchickin,

Think I'd be tempted to pay for a checked in bag for the return. It's going to be mighty hard to refrain from the buying bug when you see all that good stuff to bring home.

at marrakech airport, ladies were sent to one queue and gentlemen to another. the ladies' desks were 'manned' by ladies.
