1. Re: morocco

liz r,

See the link below for weather information.

tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g293730-i9195-k4870…

Also at the top left of your screen are literally tens of thousands of posts from travellers who offer their opinions and insights.

Buying a guide book will also help with your decision making. "Time Out", "Frommer's", "Rough Guide" and "Lonely Planet" are probably the top ones to look for.

When you have done some further research please return to the Moroccan forums for help with any specific queries. There is a hell of a lot of information "out there"!

Stick 'weather jan' into the search button and see how many hundreds of threads are retrieved.

The south will generally, but not always, be warmer than the north. There's lots of mountains and high altitude. High altitude places tend to be cooler than lower altitude.

The reality is that weather varies.

The weather in Morocco in January should be quite temperate, getting warmer as you travel south and cooler as you travel north. The average temperature in Marrakesh, in the north-central party of the country, is around 20 degrees in January, and it gets a little more than an inch of rain

Another plagiarised post from urtexi b which came, word for word, from …nytimes.com/2007/…

It's misleading for people to plagiarise in this manner as forum visitors are led to believe that this information is from someone's experience, not something they could have googled themselves.

6. Re: morocco

Weather is varied, but I found it warm when I went around that time, sleeveless tops during the day and a light jacket at night, but as stated above, weather is unpredictable, much like everything else in Morocco!

You say the best part to go - Id say Marrakech, I love it there, but then, Ive not traveled elsewhere in Morocco ;-)

I hope you did go as Jan in Morocco is a favourite month of mine - esp around Southern Morocco the winter light in the desert makes vivid colours and with the warmth returning flowers such as almond blossoms are appearing particularly in the Anti-Atlas such as around Tafraoute where ive enjoyed wonderful January days there. Nights can be still very chilly but sunny days gorgeous tshirt weather. February is even better with a wide array of flower colours and almond blossoms becoming prolific.
