HI - everyone -
I am not sure if there is already a thread on this subject but I tried finding things prior to going through Fes on my way to Tangier in April this year and was not successful .
SO , here is some info for what it is worth : -
I flew into Fes from Marseilles, France , arriving there at 06.40 in May .
The airport is not big and very pleasant - high ceilings and lots of light everywhere.
There are two bus services - I had heard about the local regular bus, no. 16 , which is often full of students/pupils going to college and school.. BUT had not heard of the Airport BUS service that now exists... I was about to take this new bus/shuttle - I think the charge was about 6 Euros ( needs to be checked out ) since the bus was already there but since it was not leaving for 15 minutes , I jumped on the regular No.16 bus that came by .. one gets on at the back and pay as you get on - there is a cashier behind a desk in the bus . The bus is not luxurious ,far from it - but does get you town inabout 25 minutes , with various stops on the way . The cost is Dirhams 3.40 three dirhams and 40 centimes..
Both uses are to be found to the right of the airport a few yards away from the exit .
The local bus stopped near the train station.
Since I had about 4 hours to kill before catching my train to Tangier , I asked a taxidriver if he could take me around for a good hour - he was great - and stopped several times to show me the panorama from different view points and pointed out various landmarks en route.
The cost was about 80 dirhams.
Re. Fes train station - the lady at the information desk was very helpful and the train to Tangier very pleasant.
My return journey from Tangier to Fes to catch a very early morning plane to Marseilles, meant that I arrived at Fes railway station by train from Tangier at about 02.30am - it is good to know that there is a big boulevard style café/bar with a terrace just a minute from the station - just up the road . There were no strange people bothering one at the terrace at 3 a.m. - good to know and teh service was commendable.
The Ibis Hotel is right next to the station for those looking for a bed near the station.
Taxis to and from the airport are 150 Dirhams one way - however , the other person who travelled on the same train as I did , negotiated a rate of 130 dirhams for the two of us ! This at 4 a.m. in the night . it takes about 20 minutes if that in the night .
Hope that this will be of use .
A.
