My sister lives in Laie next to the PCC so this is a weird combo of back and forth from Waikiki to her house. Lots of down time with family, this is our second trip so I didn’t repeat a few things I had done previous trip (Hanauma Bay). Some of it is not Hawaii specific but important to me since I was traveling without my kids (spa day and shopping). I was traveling with my mom and grandmother, so we had to take it easier pace than maybe I would have otherwise. So, for what it is worth, here is my trip report:
Monday- arrive 6pm, travel to Laie
Tuesday- Walmart for souviners, grocery store, Temple Beach, back to Waikiki to check into hotel and back to airport to pick up aunt.
Wednesday- rainy day: Hurricane Felicia expected to blow through (as a tropical storm), Pearl Harbor, back to Waikiki to explore, International Market
Thursday- Lunch at Grass Skirt Grill in Haliewa (was supposed to go to Haliewa Eats but it didn’t open until noon), Shark swim with Hawaii Shark Adventures, shrimp from Romis & Fumis (my guidebook said Romis, my sister said Fumis so we did both), Chocolate Haupia pie from Ted’s bakery,
Friday- spa day! Manicure, pedicure, facial, massage and then shopping
Saturday- Dukes breakfast, some went to swap meet, others to the Palace, Ala Moana mall, went to see Harry Potter
Sunday- church in Laie, snorkel Sharks Cove, shave ice in Haliewa (went to Vulcom store, line at Matsumotos and Aokis were way too long), back to Ted’s Bakery for pie and carrot cake
Monday- beach in am, tour with Oahu Nature Tours 1-6pm $40 Natural Highlights of Oahu- thought this was great- guide had lots of info and it was nice to have someone else drive (saw the blowhole, Hanauma Bay,Pali lookout, a short hike to see plants and birds)
Tuesday- Byodo In Temple, lunch at Hukilau Café, PCC, and night show
Wednesday- beach, late check out of hotel, to airport
I had kind of a funny thing going with taste testing every veggie burger I could find. Favorites were Ruffage Vegetarian Restaurant in Waikiki and Grass Skirt Café in Haliewa.
