Note: I imagine IslandsGo meant that BID goes to either of the sites, but not both on one night. They go to the airport most of the time, but if they hear reports that the mantas are hanging south, they go to Sheraton.
I agree about listening to people because they live here. I bet when people are in their home town they would not follow the advice of some stranger in a bar on jumping into the ocean at a strange location (or ocean equivalent) -- but come to Hawaiʻi and that stranger in a bar morphs into "knowledgable local who can be trusted for tips and advice."
If I were a real jerk, I would hang out in hotel bars and tell tourists to do stupid things, and then go laugh over a few beers with my buddies that the silly people actually listened to me. ;-)
