My husband and I will be taking a trip to Hawaii (the big island) in February - he is retiring and has never been to the Islands. He is interested in the history, the natural environment and in hiking. Beaches, swimming and snorkeling are not of much interest to him.
I lived in Ohau for a year, many years ago and have been back many times, but I have never been to the big Island. I really appreciate the trip reports, and would like to hear from anyone who has stayed near Kona (We are actually staying at the Manago Hotel in Captain Cook) and we are looking forward to visiting different parts of the island. We are renting a car, and would be happy to drive to the National Park or elsewhere for good hiking and interesting historic sites.
Thanks for your input,
