We're still researching... I thought I'd narrowed it down, but, of course, more options keep popping up. Deep Blue on Utila sounds intriguing...
The problem is getting there!
The puddle jumper flights are EXPENSIVE!
From what I can tell, we have to fly from home (Houston) to Roatan. Taca has flights for about $500/pp. Then we can either take a puddle jumper from Roatan directly to Utila for another $200 or so roundtrip... bringing our flight total to nearly $700/pp!! OR we can spend a whole day on ferries. From what I can see, we would have to take a ferry from Roatan to La Ceiba and then from La Ceiba to Utila. It would only cost about $20/pp/per leg, but it seems like it would take FOREVER!
What I don't get is why I can't find a ferry that goes directly from Roatan to Utila???!? It's closer and it seems like it would make more sense.
Is there one that I'm missing? Even if we stay on Roatan, we'd like to spend a few days diving Utila too, but not if it's going to cost us $400 to get there or a whole day of travel. It doesn't have to be a big, public boat... just something that will get us there in one piece!
