We originally planned to use private transfer service for the trip from the airport to Dominical, but have decided to rent a car instead since we'll want one to explore once we're there. Couple of questions about the drive:

- Can we safely stop at Tarcoles River to see crocodiles and possibly at Carara National Park with luggage in the car?

- For that matter, can we safely stop anywhere with luggage in the car?

I've heard horror stories about rampant theft, but how does one get from point A to point B without losing their belongings, assuming we need to make stops for food or bathroom breaks?
