They are great numero uno in CR own their own lodges

which for me were super especially Tortuga Lodge.

Certainly one of the best adventure tour companies...

We booked our trip with them in April 2008 and just returned from our trip (Dec. 23- Jan 3). I was VERY impressed with their company and they took great care of us.

We requested a custom tour and they gave us a questionnaire to get to know more about our travel likes/dislikes. Then they gave us suggestions and we tweaked it a little.

We probably paid more than if I planned the trip (which I do for all our US trips), however, I NEVER could have arranged such nice hotels, tours, and drivers (most important thing).

If you want more details, I'm happy to supply them, just let me know.

They are very good...but also one of the most expensive ones!

You pay more for the same hotels, tours, etc...

How did folks of 'advanced years' (67 +) get around on the Costa Rica tour? Was there any part of it that might be too difficult? Also --and a bit more delicate -- were there any overweight people on the tour? If so, how did they fare? I'm going in March and would really appreciate your comments.

Just returned from a 12 day experience with this company and can't say enough good things about the van driver, tour guide-Miguel, company owned lodges, exceptional food at lodges amd opportunity to view wildlife with a very good bilingual tour guide. 10 day tour with only 10 folks was a great value.

just took a trip using their tour agency at the end of march and loved every minute of it! they took care of us really well, put us in awesome hotels, and had exceptional service. i emailed the agent who booked the tour with me when we returned because i had one complaint, and he forwarded it to the CEO. the CEO immediately emailed me back and apologized for what had happened and sent me Costa Rican coffee!! you might be able to find cheaper tour agencies out there, but booking with CRE is worth every penny. :)

Hello,

I had a very good experience with this company and would consider joining them again for 2010. Any specific questions can be sent to:

I just came back from a bad experience. I booked a surprise, luxury trip to celebrate my girlfriends' birthday, but our travel planner screwed up the dates. This meant that we had to move into a hotel that was not half as nice on her actual birthday. The company also took days to respond to us, and misrepresented the quality of the other hotel. Some of the tours were also not on par with what was described in our itinerary. Overall, the service was lousy given the price we paid. I would not use this company again.
